Supporters Urge Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the actress are urging that a individual who jumped a barrier and touched the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A circulating footage reveals the individual from Australia bypassing photographers and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a promenade flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being arrested", though legal records showed that he was set to attend court on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
History of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account features recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is obviously a legal violation," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user remarked.
Fans Show Disapproval Over the Star's Past Trauma
Several supporters criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented a further response on Instagram.
Some fans also questioned guards at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while some requested digital services to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Many of attendees had assembled in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it started.
The movie, to be released on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual version of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected relationship between two contrasting characters.
The musical itself is a derivative of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and received a dozen award recognitions, earning several for outstanding attire and set decoration.
