Newest Refinery Strike Shows 'Zero Protected Areas in the Russian Distant Backlines'

Ukraine's UAVs have struck Russia's Bashneft processing plant in the city of Ufa, located some 1,400 km from the Ukrainian border, triggering detonations and a fire, per a source in Ukraine's intelligence agency.

This constitutes the third Ukrainian security service long-range attack in the region in the recent weeks. Such strikes show that there are no protected areas in the deep rear of the Russian Federation.

Zelenskyy Urges US President to Mediate Truce in Ukraine

Operations proceeded on the weekend to repair energy infrastructure in the Ukrainian capital, after Russian attacks.

Energy had been restored to over 800,000 citizens by the weekend and the largest power firm said the main operations to repair the grid was complete though partial blackouts persisted.

Anti-Aircraft Actions and UAV Interceptions

Ukraine's air defences intercepted or jammed fifty-four of 78 UAVs from Russia launched towards Ukraine overnight, the air force announced on Saturday.

The Russian defence ministry said it intercepted 42 enemy UAVs from Ukraine over Russian territory.

Cuban Government Denies Accusations of Sending Soldiers to the War

Cuba on Saturday rejected American claims it has sent troops to fight in the conflict in Ukraine, while declaring officials in Havana "do not have precise details about Cuban nationals" involved "on their own" or "as part of the armed units of the conflicting parties".

The ministry in the capital said 26 Cuban citizens had been given prison terms to prison terms ranging from five to 14 years for participating as mercenaries since last September when information emerged of individuals being deployed to the frontlines in the conflict.
