Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
